Katie Cox’s arts and crafts fundraiser
Lemon Tree Trust supporter Katie Cox recently raised £1,000 for our work, plus £250 in Gift Aid, by organising an arts and crafts fundraising event at her home and in her garden. Katie is pictured above wearing a rather fabulous green shirt covered in lemons.
Katie’s donation was made during our Tree & Plant Appeal, when donations were matched, helping to extend the impact of her fundraising.
Katie brought together friends, art, crafts, gardening and food for an informal event in her home and garden. Friends contributed paintings, handmade cards, hand-thrown pottery and homemade cakes, while plants and sustainable, fair-trade wooden necklaces were also available to buy. Visitors could browse the items, enjoy homemade cakes and make a donation to Lemon Tree Trust.
The event took plenty of preparation, but Katie says it was great fun and successful on many levels. She was also grateful to her friends for helping her set everything up.
Katie says she loves her garden, is interested in permaculture and art, and has a longstanding concern for people experiencing homelessness and displacement.
“I know how nourishing a garden is to mind, body and soul, so glad to be able to share this with other people around the world.”
