Stories from Refugee Gardeners

‘Cultivating in Crisis’ collects together interviews and photographs of gardeners in Domiz Camp, Iraq, who were part of the 2017 Garden competition. They have been compiled by Scrollytelling.ie, an organisation based in the Netherlands, who also produced Refugee Republic in 2016, an interactive documentary telling the story of camp life in Domiz. They give a personal insight into the human value of green spaces and the contribution they make to family and community life and individual well being. If you prefer to read stories on paper, please visit our publications page for details papers, brochures and summaries of our field work.
